framed Paintings on canvas
The beauty and complexity of the patterns and colour of the Irish landscape, in all of its rugged and colourful glory, as seen from an aerial viewpoint, is what inspires Amy’s current artworks. The small, traditional stone cottages (often now sadly abandoned) which litter the landscape of rural Ireland can be seen in much of her work over the years. The wonder of who once lived there and what their lives were like intrigues and inspires Amy’s paintings.
This recent (2025) body of work is called ‘Perspective’. The paintings within this series depict the landscape from various perspectives, both eye-level and from an aerial view. The view from the aerial perspective (birds eye) gives the land a pattern-like appearance. The idea behind the paintings is that everyone sees the world/life from their own perspective; through their own eyes and in their own mind. The desired outcome, when we are faced with differing perspectives, is that regardless of your perspective or that of someone else; harmony and peace is achievable through respect and understanding. We are all entitled to our perspective with the hope that others will respect it and a harmonious outcome will hopefully result. Amy’s hope is that each painting will evoke a feeling of harmony in those who view it.
